Good afternoon Elk Ridge SCC,
I hope everyone is doing well. Our first meeting for this school year is Wednesday, October 17th at 6 p.m. in the media center. I’ve attached the minutes from our last meeting in March which we need to approve. Can you each please take a minute and read them. I’ve also attached the agenda for our upcoming meeting. If you have any questions, concerns or items you would like to add to the agenda, please reach out to me.
I’m looking forward to working with all of you again this year. If you have any friends or neighbors who are interested in being on the SCC, please let them know that they are welcome to come. You can also give them my e-mail or Mr. Bentley’s e-mail if they have questions.
The concert is at Bingham High School at 7 on Oct 10th, Wednesday. Tickets are $5. All proceeds will benefit a local family whose father has ALS. We are also selling t-shirts before and after school to community members and students for $8. Students wear the t shirts next Wednesday for spirit week.
Parent / Teacher conferences will run on Wednesday evening (10/3) from 4 to 8 pm and Thursday evening (10/4) from 4 to 7:30 pm. Friday (10/5) is a no-school day.
Chalk Art Festival -- Submissions are due Wednesday, October 3 at 3:00 pm in Mrs. Gonzales room 1003. Applications are available in Mrs. Gonzales room and main office. The festival will take place on Oct 12th.
We will be holding our first SCC meeting of this school year on October 17th at 6 p.m. If you are returning, will you please e-mail me. Also, if you have friends, or neighbors who are new to the school, please invite them to participate in the School Community Council.
The School Land Trust State Committee has created a YouTube channel and uploaded their first mini-training video. We encourage you to watch the first training video.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Parents: can you volunteer a few hours and help with Reality Town this year on Thursday, November 8th? Reality Town is a simulation that gives realistic financial experience to our 9th-grade students. We need about 70 volunteers to run this program, so we need dads, moms, neighbors, grandparents, etc. There are 2 sessions: Session 1 (7:30-10:15) and Session 2 (9:45-12:00). If you or someone you know can volunteer, please fill out the attached survey. Please forward the survey to anyone that might be able to volunteer, but doesn't have a 9th-grade student. Volunteers will receive a light breakfast and short training.
This year's Fall Choir Concert (Oct 10th) will be a benefit concert connected with BeatALS. If you are interested in helping with the event or want to get involved, here is more information.
