Chalk Art Festival – A Huge Success!

Posted

The recent annual ERMS Chalk Art Festival, themed “Africa” was an outstanding experience for our artists and all of those who were able to see their masterpieces!

Every team was a winner, as each one created a unique and beautiful piece of art.

Tomorrow, September 28th, the National Junior Honor Society will hold its induction ceremony in the ERMS Auditorium. The NJHS is a prestigious organization. Students involved with NJHS make the following commitments:
I understand that membership in this organization will require that I maintain a GPA of 3.75 throughout my 9th grade year, and you will be required to earn “H”s and “S”s in citizenship, with no “U”s and no more than one “N”.
I understand that I will be required to complete a total of 12 service hours toward the school and the community (two of which can be completed at home or in my neighborhood on projects of my own choosing).
I understand that I will occasionally need to come to school early or stay late and that I may miss a class as needs arise related to N.J.H.S. I will be required to make up any work that I miss while attending N.J.H.S.  Conditions for Membership in the National Junior Honor Society:

You MAD (Make a Difference)

Posted

Students at Elk Ridge Middle School who are tired of sitting back and being bystanders to the horrible things going on around the world, created a group called You MAD. They recognize that poverty and lack of education often is the cause of the horrible things going on around the world like modern slavery and genocide. These students decided that they could make a difference by helping to provide funds for children in Kenya to get food, clothing, an education, and a chance to learn a productive skill. A local business that hear about these kids and their desire to make a difference offered to match their funds raised dollar for dollar up to $10,000. Let’s make a difference in the lives of these orphans in Kenya and send them to school. We can also show the students at Elk Ridge Middle School that there are many people just like them who do not want to sit back and be bystanders. And remember, every penny counts!
